Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!  I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year.  I had a nice night out with my brothers.  They took me to a friends house.  When I got there, they had made a surprise slide show with pictures of me and others who recently had birthdays.  It was so funny seeing me in my younger days!  On New Year's Day, we watched the Nebraska football game.  It was a good game.  We won, but I can't help but think, Rob might have helped in pulling a few strings!! :)  As you have all noticed, I have a new "face" for the page.  I decided since it was a new year, I should focus on the new us.  I'd like to take credit for how good it looks, but of course, my all-too-talented friend Nancy deserves the credit.  Thanks, Nancy!!!  I'd like to say that I' m getting into the swing of things, but I constantly hit roadblocks.  It is such a headache ironing out all the kinks.  I know with time, these will diminish, but until then, I'm working on a few gray hairs.  Starting in January, I'm going to have Julia start attending a support group called "Charlie Brown Kids".  It's specifically for children who've lost parents.  I think it will be great for her.  She'll be able to relate to these other children and not feel like she is the only one who this has happened to.  They also have a group there for the surviving spouse so it will be great for me too.  However, depending on how it goes, I may see a counselor one on one too.  I know I've said this before but there are so many emotions going through me on top of having to deal with the everyday things.  It's extremely overwhelming.  I feel like I'm running a hundred miles a minute but barely moving.  In a few days, I am going to try to post a link to our house I'm trying to sell in Texas.  It's really a beautiful home and I hate to sell it but it's unrealistic for me to keep it when I'm up here.  So, if any of you know anyone who's moving to the Ft Hood area, let them know about our house.  They will be able to click on the link and see all the details.

Hi Dena!
I am so glad to hear from you. I can't imagine what you are feeling. I think you have such a great handle and outlook on things. I think you are such a strong person with GREAT faith in our God! Wow...I wish I could be more like that.
I haven't forgotten Rob, you, Julia, and Ava. I thought about you guys all through this tough holiday season. I said LOTS of prayers and I will continue.

It has got to be so hard for you, but it sounds like you are putting one foot in front of the other and doing what you must to keep moving. Someday it will be easier, but for now - you are taking the right steps to begin again.
Take care~

Hi Dena,

The picture from a couple of posts ago is what I used to call "telegrams from God". At times of my life that have been at my lowest I always got a "tap on my sholder" in some for from God reminding me "I am right here". I am happy that his men got to have that cross in the sky to remind them that he still goes on, though we may not be able to see him anymore.

Know that you and the kids as well as Rob's men are in my thoughts and prayers.

That sounds so great for Julia, and you too! I think it would be great for you to go to something one-on-one as well... a chance to vent AND an hour or so you know you will have total quiet/focus on you without a kid pulling on your leg or needing your attention! lol... Love you lots, and happy new year... I've a feeling 2009 will turn out just fine for you Dena- you're one strong lady and we are so proud of you!

Dena-Happy New Year and the best to you in 2009 as well! I'm sure you feel sometimes like you're not gaining much, but you know you are! You've made great strides in the last month, and you will continue to progress day by day. I'm glad to hear you'll be getting some "outside" help--Julie isn't the only one who needs to know she's not alone! We continue to lift you up in prayer and hope for peace and love now and in the days to come. Hang in there--you're doing great! Love and prayers...Jackie and Joe.

We were so glad that Nebraska won too...Craig and I were on the edge of our seats with how close it was and kept saying come on Robby, you got this one! And boy did he! I tried calling right after the end, but our phone lost its charge right after the first ring!....Congrats and at least one of our teams had a close, exciting bowl game! Here's to next year....we will be sure to meet-up for a game or two in Rob's honor and to give us something to do and focus on in the New Year.
We love you and will be looking forward to hearing about the new relationships you all will surely make through the Charlie Brown group.
Love to all,
Karen

Dena,
Glad to hear that you had fun on New Year's Eve. Another holiday down, but not much easier I am sure. I have been thinking of you and your girls so much lately and praying that as the days go by, things get easier.
I LOVE the new look of your blog and look forward to keeping up on it. Thank you so much for your willingness to share your thoughts with us.
The idea of Julia going to the Charlie Brown Kids group sounds great! I teach 8 year olds and I know from experience how important it is for them to have a venue to share feelings. Doing it with kids who experienced the same feelings helps so much!
May 2009 bring you much happiness with your two beautiful girls! Keep hanging in there!

Happy New Year to the Yllescas family!
Wishing you all good things in 2009. I am so glad that you had an evening out.

As always I find your words empowering. You are such a smart woman and have wisdom beyond your years. The support group and counselor is a terrific idea, it is so important to take care of yourself. Those roadblocks will pass and you will get back into the swing of things a day at a time.

I appreciate the video, very nice of you to share. It touched my heart.

Keep on keeping on...
God Bless You! We all love you and the girls! Thank you for writing.

Dena,

There is a web site where military can list homes or whatever they have to sell and it may give you more exposure in trying to sell your house in TX. It is http://www.militaryseller.com/

Keeping you and your girls in my prayers. You are blessed to have so much family and so many friends in your support group.

Hi Dena,
Counseling/grief support are wise options to consider. There is a christian support network called "GriefShare" that is facilitated by those who have been through the journey of loss and are receiving the comfort and healing only a relationship with Christ can bring. You can learn more at www.griefshare.org.
Blessings to you and your family,

Dena,
About the house - - Have you ever heard of militarybyowner.com? I work in a military community and it was suggested to me by a local real estate agent. Just a thought. I will keep your family in my prayers.
