Rob is with God now

Well, today Rob went to be with the Lord. Last night his ICP's went really high and they took him for another CT scan. The scan results were devastating. So, we decided to let him go Home. He went very painlessly and quickly. I don't know when his funeral will be but it will be in Nebraska in my hometown. I will let you all know the details when I get them. Thank so all so much for the thousands of prayers you sent for my husband. We now have an angel looking over us.

Dena I cannot begin to tell you how sad this news makes me. You are an unbelievable lady. My prayers will be with you and your daughters and your extended family as you move through some very difficult days ahead.

Yes, you have an angel. The best angel such a strong and devoted wife and two darling little girls could have.

Our hearts and prayers go out to you, your girls, and everyone that was touched by Rob's life. Know in your heart that Rob is in a peaceful place where there is no fighting, suffering, or pain. Some prayers are not answered for a reason and God only gives a person as much as they can handle. Just know that God has a bigger plan for Rob and needed him by his side. Keep your head up, be strong, and be proud to remember Rob everyday and cherrish those memories. God bless you and your family.

Dena, We here at the Big Red Battalion have been following your blog closely. I was praying after your posting on Sunday that everything would turn out for the best, I guess it did, just not the "best" I thought it would be. I'm sure God wanted the "Little Guatamalan" with Him to watch over and protect the rest of us. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you, your girls and both of your families. Dear Dena:

Your thoughts about an angel reminded me of this verse that Jesus himself said: "See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven." As I read this verse, I know that God is sending special care for your own little ones and for you straight from his throne.

May He hold you in his hand. We will not stop praying.

Again, you don't know me, but you have showed alot of people what it means to make a marriage committment - for better and for worse. Your sharing during the worst has had a tremendous impact on people. What faith is, what committment is, what caring is, what a simple touch does.

Don't discount at all what your touch and voice and attitude meant to Rod this last month - a tremendous ministry of comfort to him during this soldier's last battle.

From reading this blog it is very evident the tremendous support network you have with friends and family - lean on them.

Praying for you and the girls.

When Tomorrow Starts Without Me
( David Romano )

When tomorrow starts without me
and I'm not here to see...
When the sun should rise and find your eyes filled with tears for me,

I wish so much you wouldn't cry
the way you did today...
While thinking of the many things
we didn't get to say.

I know how much you love me,
as much as I love you...
And each time you think of me,
I know you'll miss me, too.

But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand...
That Jesus came and called my name
and took me by the hand,

And said my place was ready
in heaven far above...
And that I'd have to leave behind
all those I dearly love.

So when tomorrow starts without me,
don't think we're far apart...
For every time you think of me,
I'm right here in your heart.

I am so sad to hear of your loss. As someone who has served in Iraq and felt the joy of returning home safe and sound, it pains and hurts to know that many of my comrades in Iraq and Afghanistan are not able to do so.

Nonetheless, every person who sacrificed over there did so - beyond all other goals - in part to protect me and ensure that I was able to return. That is a debt that I shall carry with me always.

In this time of great sadness, please remember the legacy that your loved one provided to the many men and women he served with, all of whom owe our lives in great part to him and those like him. A great part of all of us - as soldiers, and as Americans - is lost with his passing and we share your grief today.

Dena --

We are so saddened by the news of Rob's passing, particularly after such heroic struggles. Surely he longed to stay with you and the girls, and fought to do so. His courage and valiant conduct is a great example, and we admire and respect him for all he has done for others he never even knew.

As others have said, your faith and support and positive outlook, and your determination to stand by Rob and be there with him, talking to him and sharing pictures and news with him, truly does reflect the depth of your commitment to Rob. You have shown what a marriage should be like in times of trial. You have been a rock of faith and encouragement to others, when surely you have been in great pain.

Please know that we will continue to pray for you, Julia, and Eva. You have a wonderful family and many friends who care about you, not to mention the many you have touched so deeply through your blog recounting your experiences. Thank you again for sharing this very difficult time with us all. We know Rob continues to love you and will indeed watch over you and the girls!
