Hi all-
I just spoke with Dena and she wanted me to pass on her sincere thanks for all of the prayers, cards, emails, and support she has gotten over the past few days.
In addition, she told me how wonderfully overwhelmed she is by the amount of flowers that are being ordered for Rob's services. Being that there has been such a great supply already (THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE SENT!!!), I suggested posting that information on the site so people can show their support in other ways should they so choose...
As a suggestion, if you would like an alternative way to pay tribute to Rob, please know that any monetary contributions made on the site (via paypal) from this day forward will be set aside specifically for the girls future education incidentals. I know this is something that will be very helpful to Dena in the future, and Rob would have appreciated greatly.
Thank you again for all the support- you are all amazing!

I don't know if I have the right words to say to you but we want you to know we are thinking of you and your families. So here it goes as I write to you:
You have been such an inspiration to many through this very difficult journey. Your strength and courage is remarkable and then to be able to write it down as you have is just a true test of your faith and courage. Rob was truely blessed to have a wife with such faith and courage and love.
If ever I have been touched by what our military families deal with daily your journey has touched this military mom like no other. I have two daughters who are military nurses. One is in the ARMY and one is in the NAVY. I stumbled upon your blog when I seen we had lost another Nebraska soldier. Last year we lost one in Hastings and one in Holstein and they too touched me as my kids went to school with them both but your writings have brought our battle even closer to home for me and I am sure for many more. We live in Roseland, NE and I am a very proud military Mom.
In this difficult jouney please keep the faith as you stated in one of your blog writings. God never gives you more than you can handle. You will get through this with your faith and his love. He will always keep you in his hands.
We lost our son 8 yrs and 1 day ago from when Rob was injured and we had him only two days after his accident and the dear lord took him home. Those two days seemed like the longest two days of our lives. I can only imagine your journey with Robs last hard fought battle and the challenges you faced. It has just brought tears to my eyes. As you and anyone with a loved ones passing trys to cope with and understand how he can take such wonderful people from us, Please remember God takes only the best as he needs good angels too. Robb will always be with you in your heart and through your faith and love he will always be alive through those two little girls. Rob left you with so much as hard as it is to see at this difficult time. My prayers are with you and your families at this difficult time.
Keep the faith as you find comfort in these pages and the songs and words and prayers you hear in these coming days. When time allows you the courage and the time to sit down and write I am sure myself and others would love to hear how you and the girls and Rob's families are doing.
I am unable to attend the funeral but from Roseland, Nebraska we will be thinking of you and your family at this time and will light a candle in his memeory today to light his way.
I want to leave you with something that helped me get through a very difficult time of losing our son.
My daughter gave it to me.
HE ONLY TOOK MY HAND
Last night while I was trying to sleep,
My son's voice I did hear.
I opened my eyes and looked around,
But he did not appear.
He said "Mom, you've got to listen,
You've got to understand.
God didn't take me from you, mom,
He only took my hand.
When I called out in pain that night,
The instant that I died.
He reached down and took my hand,
And pulled me to his side.
He pulled me up and saved me
from the misery and pain.
My body was hurt so badly inside,
I could never be the same.
My search is really over now,
I've found happiness within.
All the answers to my empty dreams
And all that might have been.
I love you all and miss you so,
And I'll always be nearby.
My body's gone forever
But my spirit will never die!
And so you must all go on now,
Live one day at a time.
Just understand---
God did not take me from you,
HE ONLY TOOK MY HAND!!!

We will help Dena as much we can!
Dena,
A couple of days ago Ty said, "Rob Yllescas. I--want--to--check--on Rob." So we went to the computer room in the VA and brought up your blog. I can not describe how heart broken we were to find the news of his passing. Ty immediately began to cry and continued saying Rob's name repeatedly. Dena, how I wish we could do something, anything to help. Please know you and your girls are in our hearts and prayers. All of your family is. The Edwards family felt a very special bond with your family. And we will always feel it. Please know how much you are all in our thoughts. We are so humbled by Rob's heroic sacrifice. We honor his courage, bravery and service.
All our love, Ty and Anna, and Tommy and Debbie Edwards

Dena,
Nancy asked me to help with Rob's video and I wanted to share with you why "In Christ Alone" was on there. I love the words and I thought these words:
No guilt in life, no fear in death—
This is the pow'r of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No pow'r of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home—
Here in the pow'r of Christ I'll stand.
Were especially fitting.
Love ya...thinking of you today...we are so sad that we can't be there.
Heather
Dena,
